Detailed Itinerary

Day-1 Arrive at Visakhapatnam. Visit Submarine Museum and Kailasagiri. Arrive at Visakhapatnam. Visakhapatnam is large port city on the east coast of Andhra Pradesh, renowned for its proximity to Simhachalam and offering view of Bay of Bengal. In the afternoon visit India's only submarine museum and then in the evening visit Kailasagiri, a hilltop park adjacent to the sea which offers views of the Bay of Bengal. Kailasagiri is accessible via an aerial tramway from the bottom of the hill. The area is dotted with parks and statues and is an evening gathering point.

Day-2 Visit Simhachalam Temple in the morning and Rishikonda Beach in the evening Visit Simhachalam temple (16 kms), a renowned Pilgrimage of Lord Narsimha (incranation of Lord Vishnu) and one of the 18 Lord Narsimha pilgrimages (Popularly known as Narsimha Kshetrams). Family travellers can head for Vishakapatnam Zoo (spread over 700 acres) instead of visiting the Temple. In the evening visit Rishikonda Beach (A popular beach front at 12 kms from the city).

Day-3 Departure Depart for onward journey.

Visakhapatnam :

  • Submarine Museum - Indias only submarine museum (the INS Kursura), the Visakha Museum and Matsyadarsini (an aquarium) are located on beach road and are popular tourist options to visit.

  • Kailasagiri - Kailasagiri is a hilltop park adjacent to the sea which offers views of the Bay of Bengal. An aerial tramway accesses the park from the bottom of the hill. Beach Road, from the East Point colony to the coastal battery, is dotted with parks and statues and is an evening gathering point

  • Rishikonda Beach - Rishikonda Beach, 12 kms from the city, is a popular evening spot offering views of sea, sand, hills and greenery.

  • Simhachalam Temple - Simhachalam temple is a Lord Narsimha temple located near Visakhapatnam. The temple is a mix of Orissan and Dravidian styles of architecture. It is one of the eighteen "Naarasimha Kshetras" i.e. shrines of Lord Narasimha in India. Simhachalam temple is known as the second richest temple in India (after Tirupati). The carved 16-pillared Natya mandapa and the 96-pillared Kalyana mandapa are highlights of the temple.

It is known for its unspoilt beaches, nearby scenic Araku Valley and Borra caves, the 11th-century Simhachalam temple and ancient Buddhist sites like Thotlakonda and Bavikonda spread across the area.
