Introduction and Geography - Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli
(Dadra, Silvassa and Khanvel) is 150-180 kms North of Mumbai and 140 kms South of Surat and therefore a popular option for a
corporate getaway destination from here. Main incentive for guests from
Surat to patronise UT of Dadra is the fact that liquor is freely available here
which is prohibited in Surat and other parts of Gujarat. For Mumbai guests
its just one more getaway option. Area is has a well developed
industrial belt but there are other sightseeing
options that make for an interesting leisure option. Out of three
Khanvel is most cut off, Silvassa is most central in terms of sighteeing and
Dadra is most accessible.
Availability
Scenario: Availability scenario is extreme. Weekends are the peak
season for leisure oriented getaways. Weekdays are when conferences happen. Planning in advance for a weekend is a must.
Access:
Mumbai-Surat Western Express Highway (NH-8) is in a pretty good shape if one
is able to avoid the city traffic and therefore its the best way to travel
from Mumbai and Surat. However Vapi is the station to access the region
which is about 10 kms from Dadra, 20 kms from Silvassa and 40 kms from
Khanvel.
