Introduction and Geography - Kolkata (earlier known as
"Calcutta") is capital of West Bengal and a metro city in East India.
Kolkata is mix of old and the new. While it still have a functional tram
service reminiscent of early 1950s, it also is now home to some big industry
names. City of Kolkata is spread out but mainly divided into the New
Business like City Centre and the old and the crowded Howrah city. Unless
anyone has a penchant for the old world, its advisable to stick to the City
Centre where most of the good hotels are situated.
