Introduction and Geography - Gangtok is Capital of Sikkim at 3-4 hour
drive from Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Station and known for its
Himalayan views (Oct-Mar) and for its proximity to monasteries in the
region.
Gangtok
- Accommodation, areas and its Character - Gangtok is a cramped and busy
town. Gangtok is
packed with tourists during peak summer and Puja/Deewali vacation season.
Gangtok and around does have a couple of options (Such as Orange
Village and Royal Plaza) that can
be recommended for corporates for regional conferences and meets
during regular season (Jan-March and July-Sept). Availability
Scenario: Good
accommodation options are limited and weekends almost certainly go full.
Therefore its advisable to plan in
advance. April-June and Oct-Nov are peak and therefore availability is an
issue during this period for a group.
Access :
Gangtok is connected via Bagdogra Airport and New Jalpaiguri Station (120
kms) which gets overnight trains and flights from Kolkata and Delhi
respectively.
