UT of Diu -
Introduction and Geography - Union Territory of Diu is 225 kms South of
Bhavnagar and 500 kms from Ahmedabad. Veraval is the closest on the Rail
route (90 kms). Main incentive for guests from all over Gujarat to patronise UT of
Diu is the fact that liquor is freely available here
which is prohibited in Gujarat. Diu and Ahmedpur Mandvi (adjacent to Diu
falling under Gujarat Territory) beaches are idyllic and good for swimming. Radhika

Availability
Scenario: Availability scenario is extreme. Weekends are the peak
season for leisure oriented getaways. Planning in advance for a weekend is a must.
Access: Diu
must never be confused with Daman in a geographical sense just because they
are part of one union territory (They are at least 900 kms apart). Diu is
accessible by a flight from Mumbai or Via Bhavnagar (225 kms). Closest Train
access is Veraval which is 90 kms from Diu. Veraval gets convenient
overnight train from Ahmedabad. From Mumbai for availing train option,
Bhavnagar is the best option.
