Edakkal
hermitage has been conceived and is managed by the
Wayanad (Kerala,
India) based firm, Contour Dakshin, which essentially
deals with architectural and tourism projects in South
India.
The
Edakkal caves are situated on the western side of
Ambukuthimala, hill twelve kilometres south-west of the
town of Sultan’s Battery, and about six kilometres
east of Ambalawayal in the Wayanad District of Kerala.
It is known to lie on an ancient route connecting the
high ranges of Mysore to the ports of Malabar.
Accommodation
comprise cottages and Tree house. Resort
offers a host of visitor services an information centre,
camping facilities and cottage accommodation. Other
facilities include a little restaurant that serves
traditional Malayali cuisine, a shop of souvenirs and
books, and an open-air theatre for cultural and heritage
events.
Resort
also organize trips to other interesting places in and
around Wayanad like the Muthanga wild life sanctuary,
nature reserves, water falls, historic relics and
ancient temples.
