Business / Transit

Raipur is the capital of Chhattisgarh and access point for visiting Chhattisgarh. Durg is 50km from Raipur airport off NH 6 towards Nagpur and visited for the Bhilai steel plant.

Raipur and Durg has hotels with business hotel character.

Heritage

Kawardha at about 150 kms from Raipur is the first point of access while entering Chhattisgarh from Kanha National Park In MP. Palace Karwardha, a heritage hotel was designed and built by Maharaja Dharamraj Singh in the period 1936-39. 

Kawardha is an excellent stopover enroute from Kanha to Kanker / Jagdalpur and popular with Inbound Guests.

18 kms from Kawardha lies Bhoramdeo temples. Bhoramdeo like the famous Khajuraho temples have erotic carvings and popular stop for Inbound guests. Bhoramdeo Jungle Retreat is one of the accommodations here.

Kanker is located at about 150 km south of Raipur. Kanker is famous for its untouched forests, unique tribal villages and Royal Kanker Palace. The unique tribes of Kanker still practice age-old crafts and traditions and the region offers a different experience to its visitors. 

Tribal Heritage

Jagdalpur is the biggest town in the Bastar area. The National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in and around Jagdalpur have a rich and exotic variety of wildlife and a long tradition of conservation rooted in its civilisation. These are Kangerghati National Park (27 kms), Indravati National Park and Bairamgarh Wildlife Sanctuary. Jagdalpur is also a base for a host of waterfalls, most famous being Chitrakoot falls, Indian version of the Niagara falls.

The area is know for its Tribal heritage, crafts and visited mainly by Inbound guests. 

Royal Bastar Farm, 12 kms short of Jagdalpur is a simpler option. Naman Bastar is a resort like option here.

Wildlife

Bordering Madhya Pradesh and Holy town of Amarkantak is Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary. Achanakmar Sanctuary is part of the tiger Corridor formed with Kanha in Madhya Pradesh. This lies between Raipur and Amarkantak, 20 kms short of Amarkantak.

Sal Valley Resort is a small and simple resort option to explore wildlife around the area.
