Captans Resort is a small resort spread over
2.5 acres of lush greenery, located in a picturesque Western
Ghats (hill) resort off Lonavla (Maharashtra,
India), 2500 ft above sea level
between Bombay and Pune.
It is 100 KM from Bombay (2 Hrs)
and 70 KM (1 HR) from Pune accessible by the new Bombay
Pune expressway. It is well connected by rail also as
all trains to Banglore and Chennai from Bombay stop here.
Captans is only 4 KM from the Lonavla Bus Station yet
situated in a peaceful and green environment on the Rajmachi
road beyond the Tungarli Lake and the tribal village of
Thakurwadi, in the vicinity of the giant Walvan lake on the fringe of the
beautiful Rajmachi/Bhimashankar wildlife Sanctuary/nature
park.
Also the Ex-British colonial town of Lonavla is known
for its famous Rock cut temples of Karla and Bhaja (circa
300 BC) and the Captain himself is an ardent student of
Indian religions and Vedantic philosophy. Also a famed
Yoga institute (Kevalyadham) and Vedanta (Indian philosophy)
Academy is located here.
