Paragliding

Following are Paragliding Options in India:

Kamshet (Oct - May) - 125 kms from Mumbai and 65 kms from Pune

Paragliding is the closest humans can get to the feeling of flying like a bird. It is a fun, safe way to experience flight in its simplest form. You simply lay out a wing on a hillside or mountain, inflate it over your head like a kite, run a few steps and before you know it you've stepped off into the sky! Once in the air, a pilot is able to maintain and even gain altitude using lifting air currents and thermals. Landing a paraglider is extremely easy. A pilot simply steers it into the landing area, and glides down for a very gentle touch down back on to earth.

Temple Pilots Paragliding is a 13-year old flight training school, based in Pune, among the top schools in South East Asia . Registered and recognised by the Aeroclub of India , it boasts a 100% safety record. Temple Pilots conduct their Paragliding sessions at Kamshet.

Two kinds of options available here : 1. Tandem joyrides 2. Introductory Paragliding Courses

Tandem Joyrides : A two-seater 15-20 minute joyride with an experienced pilot. The most FUN and easy way to taste the exhilaration of free flight. No age limit, training or experience required. Carry your camera and take some amazing pictures from the sky!! Plan a day of fun and flying with your friends and family. - Rs. 2000 per person

2. Introductory Paragliding Course - 3-day course and experience the thrill of your FIRST SOLO FLIGHT - Rs. 9800 per person.

Beginners can easily log 2 hours in ridge lift mixed with thermals. Opportunities abound for the more experienced pilots. Pilots from the USA, India, UK and France have logged cross country between 50 KM to 70 KM.

During the cooler season, November to February the temperature ranges form 19 degrees at night to 28 degrees during the day, and the prevailing winds blow from the East in the morning at Harrison's Folly, which is only 2 KM from town centre. The wind changes to West in the evening, blowing from Sydney Point near the town centre.

For inexperienced and non-paragliders, tandem flights with experienced pilots are available for Rs. 1500 onwards.
