Itinerary- Golden Triangle - Delhi-Agra-Jaipur (4 nights)

This is a short-break tourist itinerary for North India  that covers two major destinations Agra (Taj Mahal, Agra Fort) and Jaipur (Forts and Palaces) alongwith Delhi. This is the most visited Itinerary in India by overseas tourists.


Day 1
- Arrive in Delhi. Sightseeing at Delhi visiting Red Fort, Qutab Minar, Bahai Temple.
Day 2 - Proceed to Agra (200 kms - 4 hours). Half Day sightseeing visiting Agra Fort, The Taj and other monuments.
Day 3 - After morning visit to Fatehpur Sikri and Luncheon Stopover at Bharatpur (Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary), Proceed to Jaipur (232 kms - 5 hours) - Reach by evening.
Day 4 - Full day sightseeing covering Amer Fort, Jantar Mantar (Observatory), Hawa Mahal and possibly shopping in the evening. Evening Entertainment and Dinner at Chokhi Dhani (Ethnic Indian Restaurant).
Day 5 - Proceed back to Delhi (260 kms - 4 hours) after breakfast. Reach by afternoon.

Variations / Off the Beaten Track   
  • Chambal Safari Lodge at 80 kms South of Agra is an exciting destination for spotting Crocodiles, Gangetic Dolphins and Migratory Birds.

  • The Bagh (Orchard Retreat) / Laxmi Vilas (Heritage) / Birders Inn (Budget) at Bharatpur are good option if idea is to only visit certain monuments (such as The Taj) in Agra and spend rest of the time relaxing and visiting Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary.

  • Mathura (60 kms before Agra) which is the birthplace of Lord Krishna can be visited or even be considered for an overnight stay. This is recommended only for those interested in Pilgrimage destinations.

Extensions
  • Both Chambal Safari and Bharatpur can be part of the itinerary given 1 or two extra days and The Taj still can be visited as a day visit enroute from Delhi to Chambal Safari OR Chambal Safari to Bharatpur.

  • Give an additional night, Jaipur to Delhi Sector can be done via Shekhawati region (Known for its Frescoed Havelis). Surajgarh Fort is a very good option here considering that its only 175 km from Delhi. 

  • Give an additional night, a Fort Neemrana (100 kms before Delhi Airport) stay can be included as a part of Jaipur to Delhi Sector. Fort Neemrana is an exquisite heritage retreat and its considered to be an experience to stay here.

Access - New Delhi is the International Airport and Capital of India which gets trains and flights from All over India and across the globe.
